These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Gloaty app (“the app”). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms. The app is operated by Jay McCormack. Contact: j@jaym.cc.
The service
Gloaty lets you share your daily word‑game results within private friend groups, view a group leaderboard once everyone has played, chat, and react. The app is provided for personal, non‑commercial entertainment.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account. Provide accurate information when you sign up, and let us know if you believe your account has been compromised.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the app for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
- Upload content that is illegal, harassing, hateful, or infringes someone else’s rights.
- Attempt to disrupt, reverse‑engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the app or its systems.
- Use the app to harass or abuse other members of your groups.
We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these Terms.
Your content
You retain ownership of the screenshots, messages, and other content you submit. By submitting content, you grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display it for the purpose of operating the app (including sending images to AI services to read your result, as described in our Privacy Policy). You are responsible for the content you share.
Trademarks and third‑party content
Gloaty is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by The New York Times Company, the makers of Wordle, or any other word game. “Wordle” and other game names are the trademarks of their respective owners, referenced only to describe interoperability. Gloaty does not reproduce or distribute those games; it records results you choose to share.
Disclaimers
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, error‑free, or that results read from screenshots will always be accurate.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. As a free hobby app, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid to use it (which is nothing).
Termination
You may stop using the app and request account deletion at any time by emailing j@jaym.cc. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated Terms. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
